The brilliance of Mt Buller’s RockWire is that all levels of climbing ability will enjoy it. From the never-evers to the seasoned climbers, the west face of the summit will entertain and challenge all levels using man-made and natural features.
It is ideal for team building exercises for corporate groups; school groups will build resilience and teamwork; and, individuals and families will get a kick out of challenging themselves on Australia’s first Via Ferrata.
Participants must be able to climb a ladder, be between 40kg and 120kg and at least 120cm tall.
Do not bring loose items on the climb, as anything that is dropped is NOT retrievable. Phones and cameras should be attached by lanyard to daypack or harness.
One of the most challenging, and satisfying, parts of RockWire’s Via Ferrata tours is the amazing walk in and out to the climbing routes.
The views walking in are some of the best anywhere, and it doesn’t matter which way you look. North is Mt Buffalo, Cobblers, Mt Stirling with Mt Bogong, Feathertop and Hotham in the distance. To the East is Crosscut Saw, Speculation and Howitt. In the South is the Bluff, and to the West is Lake Eildon and the whole Delatite Valley. You will not know which way to point your camera!
Like a lot of things in life to gain a reward, one must work first to get it – and our walk in and out is no different. Click link below for more information about the walking part of the tours.
We want as many people as possible to experience the thrill of RockWire. While our climbs are physically challenging, we’ve built in options and support to help more guests take part safely and comfortably.
Our guiding team includes members who speak multiple languages, and we can adjust our delivery style to help guests follow along during briefings and on the route. If you’d like language support, let us know when booking so we can try to match you with the right guide.
We know that not every climber fits the same mould, and we’re able to adjust how we deliver tours so more people can take part. If you have specific mobility, vision or sensory needs — or you’re outside our usual weight range — we can make modifications to create a safe, enjoyable climb for a wider range of guests:
If you have specific accessibility needs, get in touch before booking so we can make the right arrangements for you. Our team is happy to discuss options and ensure you feel confident before you climb.
